• Many open parking areas offer the possibility of renting a pitch, in addition to the parking space, so you can use your motorhome without having to move it.

Cons

• The motor home is exposed to the elements.
• They are usually located on the outskirts of towns and, as a general rule, the ground is made from earth or gravel.

Tips

• Use of this type of parking in areas where weather conditions are not too adverse, and where temperature changes are not abrupt.
• Choose an open parking area close to where you live to be able to carry out weekly check-ups and revisions.

Pros

• The motorhome is protected by a roof.
• They tend to have greater surveillance than open parking areas.

Cons

• As a general rule, they are made from earth or gravel. This type of flooring tends to transfer moisture to the wheels and underbody.

Tips

• Even if the motorhome is protected by a roof, measures must be taken to prevent dampness and freezing (in the case of areas with very low temperatures).

Some motorhome parking areas, whether open, covered or enclosed, have extra services such as:

• Tuning service before pick-up.

In order to choose the most suitable parking area for your motorhome, you should be clear about three main points:

Budget

The first step is to establish the budget you can allocate for the motorhome parking area and, from there, study the different options.

Time between trips

Do you travel with your motorhome very often? You may be interested in an open parking area. You are not going to make much use of it, so it is not so important whether it has a covered area or not.

Do you travel little? The best option is probably an enclosed parking area, where security is better and where weather conditions do not affect the condition of your motorhome.

Place where you live

Is it a place where temperatures are extreme? Does it rain a lot? An enclosed or at least covered parking area is recommended.

Do you live in a warm place and are you able to regularly check on your motorhome? Open parking areas may be appropriate.
